Specialist, Standard Costing

Singapore

Job Responsibilities

•  Prepare and maintain the cost basis.  Maintain standard cost logic, calculation rules, cost assignment methodology, rates and supporting documentation across PIL services.
•  Validate outputs and detect anomalies.  Perform routine validation of outputs entering pricing and the Liner Proforma P&L. Investigate system anomalies, calculation errors, data-feed failures and unexplained movements, and escalate material issues with a quantified impact.
•  Recommend rates and changes for release.  Prepare rates, adjustments and model changes and recommend them for endorsement. Withhold recommendation where the basis is unsound and quantify pricing and margin consequences in advance.
•  Apply the common cost taxonomy.  Classify and map cost elements to the approved taxonomy, identify structural misalignment and refer it for permanent remediation rather than applying recurring workarounds.
•  Support the standard cost (COA) engine revamp.  Contribute business requirements, functional specifications and process knowledge; execute testing; investigate defects; validate parallel-run results; and support cutover and stabilisation.
•  Support organisation transition and scope segregation.  Support Phase 1 documentation, knowledge transfer, controls and migration into the Finance cycle. For Phase 2, map activities and procedures relating to empty repositioning, Repo Credit and Trade-support queries, prepare handover materials, undertake knowledge transfer and support parallel running and stabilisation with Equipment Management.
•  Support shared-services transfer and efficiency improvement.  Document procedures and controls, identify transactional activities suitable for transfer, train shared-services colleagues, monitor initial output quality and support automation, simplification and rework reduction initiatives.
•  Support invoice-processing detection and corrective action.  Provide standard-cost reference data and analytical support to detection models operated with Cost Performance & Business Partnering. Investigate rate deviations, missing or mis-coded invoices and accrual gaps within assigned scope; support agreed actions; and track closure.
•  Analyse and improve cost accuracy.  Analyse cost accuracy across services, trades and equipment types, quantify margin leakage and carry assigned rectification actions through to completion.
•  Investigate variance with Cost Performance & Business Partnering.  Investigate standard-versus-actual cost variance, distinguish legitimate movements from cost, mapping, invoice or accrual issues, and support joint corrective actions.
•  Partner Trade and support Line Controlling.  Explain the cost basis behind rates, respond to cost-logic queries, support tenders and cargo-acceptance discussions, and prepare sensitivities and interpretation for management decisions. Route EMD-owned empty-cost and Repo Credit queries after Phase 2.
•  Support the post-handover EMD interface.  Validate completeness and timeliness of empty-cost outputs received from Equipment Management, map them into the approved taxonomy and cost basis, and refer input or logic issues to EMD without assuming ownership of empty-cost logic.

Job Requirements

•  Tertiary Education in Accounting, Finance, Maritime, Data Science, Statistics, Business or a related discipline.
•  Minimum 4 to 6 years in standard costing, controlling, management reporting or commercial analysis.
•  Shipping or liner experience preferred, with understanding of service, trade and equipment cost drivers.
•  Experience supporting system implementation, testing, process improvement or scope transition is preferred.
