We are seeking an experienced Regional Commercial Manager to join our dynamic team at PIL, that would be responsible for driving the commercial performance of the LARO region translating trade, commercial and customer service strategies into effective country-level execution.
The role provides functional leadership across commercial and customer-facing teams, ensuring effective pricing, cargo flow management, customer retention and commercial performance. The incumbent acts as the key interface between Headquarter and country organizations to strengthen sales capability, improve commercial discipline and deliver sustainable volume and business.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Trade Management, Pricing & Cargo Flow
- Lead the execution of regional trade strategies in alignment with Headquarters' commercial and network objectives.
- Drive pricing and cargo flow initiatives to maximise volume, revenue, contribution and cargo quality.
- Establish, review and benchmark local charges, free time policies and tariff structures to strengthen revenue performance, maintain commercial discipline and support the Company's strategic objectives.
- Monitor market developments, customer demand and competitive activities to identify opportunities and risks.
- Provide commercial input and market feedback to support trade planning, network optimisation and business growth.
- Manage the commercial impact arising from network changes and service disruptions to protect business performance and customer relationships.
2. Commercial Performance & Business Growth
- Drive sustainable volume and revenue across the assigned region.
- Develop and execute regional commercial plans aligned with HQ objectives and budget targets.
- Identify opportunities to grow strategic accounts, target segments and new business opportunities.
- Monitor commercial performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
3. Customer Service & Customer Experience
- Provide functional leadership to customer service teams to ensure service delivery supports commercial objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in customer experience, customer retention and service quality.
- Lead the resolution of significant customer escalations and service-related commercial risks.
- Promote effective collaboration across different functions to ensure customer service delivery
4. Sales Capability, Commercial Excellence & CRM
- Enhance sales capability, commercial discipline and execution effectiveness across regional commercial teams.
- Strengthen sales planning, customer management, pipeline visibility and commercial productivity.
- Drive effective adoption and utilisation of CRM platforms and customer management processes.
- Ensure consistency in commercial practices, customer engagement standards and performance management across countries.
5. Commercial Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure compliance with corporate commercial policies, pricing guidelines and governance requirements.
- Review commercial exceptions, customer commitments and local commercial practices to ensure alignment with company standards.
- Act as the key liaison between Headquarters, Regional Office and country commercial teams.
- Build strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders to support business objectives.
6. Strategic Projects & Transformation
- Represent the region in strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Lead regional implementation of commercial transformation initiatives, including systems, processes and digital solutions.
- Drive adoption of best practices and continuous improvement across regional commercial organisations.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Build a high-performing regional commercial organisation.
- Develop commercial talent and leadership capability across the region.
- Foster collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive alignment between HQ strategy and local execution.
Skills & Qualifications;
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics or related disciplines.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant commercial experience in container shipping, logistics or related industries.
- Strong experience in trade management, pricing, cargo flow management and commercial leadership.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-country commercial operations and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in commercial transformation, CRM deployment or process improvement initiatives will be advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Excel (mandatory).
- Power BI knowledge (strong plus).
- Solid analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to translate data into insights and clear recommendations.
- Comfort with CRM and pipeline management tools.
Language
- Fluent English – written and spoken (mandatory, Advanced level).
- Additional regional languages (Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus.
