We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager, OOG/Reefer & Project Cargo – Commercial & Business Development to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving commercial growth, business development, customer engagement, and revenue generation for the OOG (Out-of-Gauge), Reefer, Project Cargo and Special Cargo segments while working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative and customized logistics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Main Responsibilities
a) Develop and implement sales and business development strategies to grow OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo and Special Cargo volumes across assigned markets and trade lanes.
b) Identify and pursue new business opportunities within key sectors, including construction, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, manufacturing, agriculture and perishables.
c) Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, freight forwarders, NVOCCs, project cargo specialists and key industry stakeholders.
d) Conduct customer visits, sales presentations, business reviews and commercial negotiations to secure new business opportunities and expand existing accounts.
e) Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, tenders and service agreements in accordance with company guidelines.
f) Provide technical and commercial support for OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo and Special Cargo enquiries and shipments.
g) Assess cargo feasibility and recommend suitable equipment, routing, vessel allocation and cargo handling solutions.
h) Develop customized logistics solutions for oversized, heavy-lift, breakbulk and temperature-controlled cargo requirements.
i) Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer requirements and trade developments to identify growth opportunities.
j) Analyse cargo performance, revenue, profitability and market share to support commercial decision-making.
k) Prepare sales forecasts, performance reports and business development updates for management review.
l) Recommend pricing strategies and revenue enhancement initiatives to maximize profitability and competitiveness.
m) Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, safety standards and industry regulations.
2. Leadership Responsibilities
a) Collaborate closely with Commercial, Trade Management, Operations, Vessel Planning, Equipment Control, Customer Service, Finance and Procurement teams to ensure successful cargo execution and service delivery.
b) Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned customers and key accounts.
c) Support contract negotiations, customer retention initiatives and strategic account development.
d) Provide guidance and support to local agencies and stakeholders on specialized cargo opportunities and solutions.
e) Drive cross-functional collaboration to support commercial campaigns, trade initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

2. Qualification & Experience Required
a) Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies or a related discipline.
b) Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in container shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, project cargo or specialized cargo commercial activities.
c) Proven track record in OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo and/or Special Cargo business development.
d) Strong understanding of liner shipping operations, international trade and specialized cargo handling requirements.
e) Experience in sales, account management, tender submissions and commercial negotiations.
3. Professional Skill Sets
a) Strong knowledge of OOG equipment, reefer container operations and project cargo handling requirements.
b) Good understanding of shipping networks, trade lanes, vessel operations and cargo acceptance processes.
c) Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, revenue management and profitability analysis.
d) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM tools.
e) Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
f) Strong analytical and reporting capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
g) Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders across different functions and regions.
