We are seeking a highly experienced General Manager to join our dynamic team in the Selangor, Malaysia. This role will serve as the strategic and operational leader, responsible for driving the company’s sustainable growth, financial performance, and global competitiveness. With a focus on building stakeholder trust and delivering commercial excellence, the role demands a visionary leader with deep maritime expertise and a strong track record in navigating complex Malaysia domestic and international markets. Through strategic market analysis, trade lane development, and partnership cultivation, the General Manager will play a pivotal role in reinforcing MSCorp’s leadership in specialized regional markets and positioning the company for continued success in a dynamic global shipping landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Management
- Maintain excellent communication and negotiation skills with Shareholders / Board of Directors, regulators, and industry bodies.
- Ability to maintain trust and transparency.
- MSCorp AGM Reporting
- Strategic Vision
- To define and execute long-term goals for the Company and adapt to Malaysia domestic market dynamics.
- Monitor and analyse not only Malaysia domestic market, but also the international trade lanes and shipping trends to maintain a competitive edge.
- Adapt to diverse cultural and business environments to support operations and expansion.
- Establish and grow strategic partnerships and networks to drive business development and market presence.
- Strategic Leadership & People Management
- Build a strong executive team and succession planning.
- Inspire and lead diverse teams across multiple regions.
- Financial Performance
- Optimizing financial performance through revenue growth, cost control, and sound investment decisions.
- Managing risk to ensure sustainable profitability.
- Prepare and execute the annual budget
- Industry Knowledge & Operational Excellence
- Bring deep industry knowledge, including maritime regulations, ESG compliance, fleet operations, and port & terminal, logistics, equipment / assets management.
- Drive adoption of technology for operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Crisis & Risk Management
- To navigate geopolitical, operational, and financial uncertainties and make swift, informed decisions under pressure.
- Compliance & ESG
- Ensure adherence to maritime regulations, safety standards, and sustainability goals.
- Financial Authority
- Holds full accountability and authorization for banking transactions and payment approvals, for both Principal & Subsidiaries level.
- Ensures financial integrity, cash flow management, and alignment with corporate financial policies through close collaboration with PIL Finance & Treasury.
- Company Directorship & Cross-Entity Coordination
- Acts as the appointed Director for all subsidiary companies under the Company.
- Provides governance oversight, aligns subsidiary goals with group strategy, and ensures regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
- Facilitates synergy between the parent company and subsidiaries.
MUST HAVE:
- Degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or related field
- 10+ years in shipping, logistics, or related industries.
- Possessing experience and a proven background in Malaysia domestic markets, as well as Intra-Asia trade will be regarded as a distinct advantage.
- Proven track record of managing P&L and global operations.
- Experience in capital projects, alliances, and ESG initiatives.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate changing market environments.
