Assistant Manager (Liner Operations)

Singapore

Job Responsibilities

To manage vessel schedules and service reliability by coordinating with internal departments, terminals, agents, vessel owners and partner carriers. The primary focus is maintaining schedule integrity, identifying disruptions early and implementing practical recovery measures, while ensuring vessels operate safely and efficiently and meet commercial and operational objectives.  Experience in stowage planning, including cargo capacity management, vessel utilisation, draft constraints and port rotation, would be an added advantage for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily vessel positions, schedules and service performance against proforma schedules and agreed berth windows; maintain accurate schedule updates in operational systems.
  • Identify schedule deviations and assess their impact on subsequent port calls, cargo commitments and service reliability. Develop recovery plans and escalate decisions requiring approval.
  • Evaluate speed adjustments, port omissions, changes to port rotation, berth changes and terminal switching, balancing time recovery, bunker consumption, operational costs and cargo impact.
  • Coordinate recovery measures with internal teams, local agents, terminals, vessel owners and consortium partners; track execution and communicate revised schedules promptly.
  • Plan and coordinate vessel port calls, monitoring berth availability, tidal restrictions, draft limitations, port congestion, weather and other operational constraints.
  • Review port productivity and vessel turnaround times; identify recurring delays and recommend improvements to protect subsequent berth windows.
  • Support vessel deployment, phase-in and phase-out arrangements and network adjustments, assessing schedule feasibility and service continuity.
  • Bunker Planning and Supporting Operations
  • Calculate bunker projections and validate requirements against ROB, expected consumption, reserves, voyage schedules, tank capacity and draft restrictions; prepare requisitions for bunker procurement.
  • Monitor voyage bunker consumption and assess the additional consumption associated with schedule recovery options.
  • Prepare and coordinate stowage plans, taking account of cargo commitments, vessel utilisation, draft restrictions and port rotation, to support efficient operations and timely departures.
  • Ensure operational plans comply with company policies, port requirements and applicable safety regulations, including SOLAS and IMDG.

Job Requirements

  • Tertiary Education in maritime studies, business or logistics preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in liner operations or maritime logistics, or relevant seagoing experience, with practical exposure to vessel scheduling and port operations.
  • Experience handling long-haul East Coast South America (ECSA) or West Coast South America (WCSA) services, including schedule recovery, draft restrictions, port productivity management and coordination with consortium partners, will be an added advantage.
