The Assistant Manager, Agency Network Management (ANM) is responsible for supporting the performance management, governance, and development of PIL's agency network across China & North Asia. The role partners closely with country management teams and cross-functional stakeholders to drive business performance, strengthen operational excellence, ensure policy compliance, and support strategic initiatives across the North Asia region.

This position serves as a key bridge between Headquarters, Regional Offices, and local agencies, facilitating alignment, accountability, and continuous improvement within the agency network.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Agency Performance Management

  • Monitor and analyze agency business performance, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct monthly performance discussions in the respective Country agencies.
  • Track key business KPIs, identify performance gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support implementation of regional initiatives to improve agency productivity and profitability.

 

2. Regional Business & Financial Management

  • Coordinate annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning exercises across China & North Asia agencies.
  • Review agency SG&A expenses and headcount plans.
  • Conduct variance analysis and monitor budget utilization against approved plans.
  • Support business case evaluations, cost optimization initiatives, and productivity improvement programs.

 

3. Governance, Compliance & Policy Management

  • Ensure agencies comply with corporate policies, governance standards, and Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements.
  • Support implementation of regional governance frameworks and internal controls.
  • Review agency practices against global policies and recommend alignment opportunities.
  • Coordinate policy communication and monitor implementation progress across agencies.

 

4. Strategic Projects & Organizational Development

  • Lead or support regional transformation and organizational improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in agency restructuring, Agency Core Model implementation, and organizational design projects.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely project execution and delivery.
  • Monitor project milestones, risks, and action plans.

 

5. Stakeholder & Agency Relationship Management

  • Build strong working relationships with country leadership teams across China & North Asia.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between Headquarters and agency management teams.
  • Facilitate communication, issue resolution, and follow-up on key business matters.
  • Support regional management visits, workshops, and leadership meetings.

 

6. Regional Reporting & Business Analytics

  • Analyze agency operational and financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Develop insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.

 

7. People & Organization Support

  • Support workforce planning, organizational reviews, and manpower initiatives.
  • Participate in talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement programs.
  • Coordinate implementation of HR and administrative initiatives where applicable.
  • Support change management and communication activities across agencies.

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Corporate Law, Maritime Studies or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., ACCA) be advantageous
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years in Corporate Management
  • Familiarity with the container shipping industry is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong project management and coordination capabilities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced regional environment.
  • Fluent in English; Mandarin will be advantageous for engagement with China & Taiwan stakeholders.
