Job Responsibilities

Job Overview:
The Senior / Manager will be responsible for overseeing the performance of Company's shipping services, providing critical support to the General Manager, and managing daily tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role involves a high degree of coordination with internal and external stakeholders, inter-departmental collaboration, and accountability for the overall performance of the shipping services. The Senior / Manager will also handle administrative duties and offer backup support for overseas operations as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:
1.    Shipping Services Management:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s shipping services, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across trade lanes.
  • Ensure optimal capacity management and service delivery to meet customer needs and maximize profitability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping operations and recommend improvements where necessary.

 

2.    Operational Support

  • Provide day-to-day operational support to the General Manager by managing routine tasks, ensuring timelines are met, and providing necessary updates.
  • Take accountability for specific projects and operational areas to reduce the General Manager’s workload and ensure focus on strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external communication in the General Manager’s absence.

 

3.    Coordination with Internal & External Stakeholders:

  • Facilitate communication between the company and external partners, customers, and service providers.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration and engagement across various departments to meet organizational objectives.
  • Handle negotiation and partnership management with shipping lines, port authorities, and other related entities.

 

4.    Inter-Department Engagement:

  • Drive inter-departmental coordination to ensure alignment and collaboration across teams, including sales, marketing, finance, and operations.
  • Work closely with different departments to develop and implement strategies that improve overall service efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 

5.    Administrative & Reporting Duties:

  • Oversee company administrative tasks, including documentation, reporting, and compliance.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the General Manager, summarizing operational performance, market insights, and key action items.
  • Ensure all necessary legal and compliance requirements are met for the shipping services.

 

6.    Market Development & Expansion:

  • Identify new opportunities for market expansion and growth in the shipping industry, particularly within the Asia & Oceania region.
  • Collaborate with trade and commercial teams to develop new service offerings and improve existing trade lanes.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to anticipate changes and adjust strategies accordingly.

 

7.    Contingency Planning & Support:

  • Offer backup support for overseas staff and owners’ representatives as needed, ensuring continuity in operations during personnel changes.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of contingency plans for critical shipping operations, providing seamless transitions as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the shipping industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial position.
  • Experience in capacity management, trade lane development, and commercial functions 
  • Previous experience in coordinating with external partners, customers, and stakeholders in the shipping sector.
  • Familiarity with administrative duties, legal compliance, and reporting.
