This role is part of PIL's Global Sustainability & ESG (GSE) department which is tasked with the mission to imbue sustainability in all key aspects of business operations as well as achieving all compliance required as a world class shipping line committed to greener shipping practices.
This role will be supporting the GSE department’s global ESG Accreditation and Reporting (EAR) efforts. Specifically, the development, implementation and maintenance of initiatives relating to ESG advancement, obtaining of ESG-related accreditation, reporting of ESG performance as well as Community Impact and Engagement across the various regions in which PIL operates in as well as the various operational functions in the Singapore corporate headquarters.
This role will be based in Singapore with occasional travel required.
Roles & Responsibilities:
This role supports the portfolio responsibilities of GSE’s ESG Accreditation and Reporting (EAR) section, supporting the section lead in the delivery of EAR-centric projects, particularly in areas relating to annual sustainability and Ecovadis reporting.
- Support the development and execution of group ESG strategy and sustainability initiatives aligned with PIL’s key sustainability priorities, while fostering meaningful engagement and strong relationships with key stakeholders:
o Preparation and publication of annual sustainability report and communication of ESG performance.
o Annual Ecovadis questionnaire submission, ensuring comprehensive and transparent communication of ESG performance aspects.
o Assessment of physical climate risks via climate risk scenario analysis, integration with IAF and reporting to ESG Steerco and ARC.
o Group’s ESG award and grant applications from preparation to post-submission follow-up
- Drive cross-departmental initiatives to meet Group’s GHG accounting needs and advance decarbonisation strategy by supporting:
o PIL Group’s GHG inventorisation efforts:

- Implementation and management of Group’s GHG inventory management, verification and reporting (MRV) software.
- Collation and calculation of Group’s annual global GHG emissions across Scope 1 to 3.
- Obtain external assurance for GHG inventory.

o Review of Group’s GHG manual to reflect business changes, change in reporting scope and updated methodologies aligned with Standards updates.
o Planning, budgeting and execution of Group’s REC / Offset Strategy.
o Annual Clean Cargo Working Group reporting & DCS data verification.
- Support the advancing of Group’s Community Impact material topic via PIL Fairwinds Initiative to drive positive social and environmental impact through strategic grant-giving Initiatives
o Secretariat role for PIL’s grant-giving programme to manage the global budget and ensure strategic allocation per Grant Giving Policy:

- Continual review of Grant Giving Policy to align with long-term community impact objectives.
- Deliver long-term positive social / environmental impact by driving long-term partnerships with NGOs / charities.

o Planning and execution of ESG engagement activities for PIL HQ participants.
o Delivery of global grant-giving & community engagement initiatives.
- Support the department in other corporate sustainability initiatives and activities where relevant.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in:
-
- Sustainability/Environmental-related disciplines (preferred); or
- Engineering/Finance/Accountancy/Business
- Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., GRI, CSR-P, FSA, CFA ESG) are advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant prior working experience (for degree holders) or 3 years of working experience (for diploma holders) in at least three of the following areas/sectors:

- Corporate Sustainability Reporting & Assurance
- Carbon Accounting & Climate Risk Analysis
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Data Analytics & Digital Tools for ESG
- Community Impact & Grant Management
- Experience in the shipping, logistics, or maritime sector will be beneficial.
