Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for logistics and efficiency? We are looking for a Regional Logistics Manager for our West and South Africa Region Office (WARO) in Accra, Ghana to oversee the logistics function across the region, focusing on equipment management, intermodal operations, and our transversal cost efficiency program. In this role, you will use your strong leadership skills and multi-disciplinary expertise to manage the logistics function effectively, ensuring compliance with policies and best practices while driving top performance. Key Responsibilities:
Regional Management
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the logistics function in the region (incl. agencies within the region) to ensure compliance with PIL policies, best practices
- Drive performance in accordance with KPI/targets.
- Manage logistics expenses and volume, including budget, expense tracking, cost analysis, variance explanation, and cost improvement.
Equipment Management
- Manage empty inventory at optimal level, i.e., inventory, number of sets, idle/dwell, on/off/hire, sale, etc.
- Lead and execute empty repositioning planning with a clear overview of consolidated regional stock projection from each country & target inventory
- Drive and collaborate marine operations and cargo-flow to maximize empty repositioning and track performance to ensure every vessel has a minimum of 100% utilization
- Manage overdue laden, empty and damaged containers to minimal level through periodic monitoring, tracking and resolution
- Manage equipment technical activities, including MNR, cargo support/stowage, reefer cold chain support, etc.
Procurement & Supplier Management (Landside depot, rail, truck)
- Develop and implement regional procurement plans, i.e., source to pay.
- Build and maintain strong relationship with regional suppliers
- Manage and track supplier performance
Intermodal
- Develop intermodal business
- Optimize inland network and development of new corridors to maximize performance
- Drive intermodal volume and margin
Cost Efficiency Program (transversal all spend & including non-Logistics areas)
- Lead the efficiency program and drive cost improvement initiatives and meet/exceed set target
- Develop and animate plans to foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Performance tracking and reporting
Leadership and Development Responsibilities
- Lead the logistics function in the region
- Provide leadership and direction to agencies
- Provide mentorship to team members as they deliver on plans and strategies
- Manage and collaborate with stakeholders, HQ, RO, Agencies from Operations, Commercial Trades, etc. to make business decision in the overall best interest of company and with appropriate level of checks-and-balances.
MUST HAVE:
Experience & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a managerial role, preferably in the Liner shipping industry
- Bachelor’s or Master's in relevant field
- Proven experience working in multiple inland terminal locations.
- Experience working within an international organization.
- Familiarity with procurement concepts and methodologies.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships and procurement processes.
- Knowledge and experience in equipment maintenance and repair

- Fluent in both verbal and written English. Fluency in French would be a strong advantage
