We are seeking a highly motivated Pricing and Space Management, Executive (Melbourne, Australia) to join our dynamic team at PIL. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing pricing strategies, space, allocation management, and commercial activities for our shipping services across Oceania. This position will require collaboration with various stakeholders, including our overseas branches, to support revenue generation, enhance our market competitiveness and optimize space utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing
- Maintain and update spot and contract pricing
- Monitor competitor rates and suggest tactical pricing actions
- Conduct market intelligence and analysis
- Prepare rate quotations in collaboration with sales (Tender / MRG / Spot rates)
- Ensure pricing policies comply with internal and regulatory requirements
- Track margin performance and support yield optimization efforts
Cargo Flow
- Manage and coordinate container flow out of Australian and New Zealand ports
- Monitor vessel schedules, bookings, and inventory levels
- Support sales teams by ensuring space and container allocations align with demand
- Troubleshoot exceptions in cargo handling and resolve imbalances
- Optimize turnaround times and reduce demurrage/detention costs
MUST HAVE:
- A tertiary education in business, marketing, or commerce is preferred
- Open to fresh graduate
- Understanding of cost structures and carrier operations
- Preferred candidate with understanding of liner shipping, freight markets, and Australia / New Zealand – Asia trade
- Proficient in Excel and data visualization tools
- Strong organizational and coordination abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and solve problems proactively
- Willing to travel when required
