PIL is seeking a commercially driven and entrepreneurial PIL Logistics Managing Director (Côte d’Ivoire) to lead and accelerate the sustainable growth of our integrated logistics footprint in Côte d’Ivoire and key hinterland markets. This is a strategic leadership role focused on organic expansion under an asset-light model. The successful candidate will build on existing foundations and drive upstream development of our logistics business through strengthening partnerships, expanding customer portfolios, and positioning PIL as a leading end-to-end logistics partner in the region. You will lead a small, agile, high-performing team and play a critical role in shaping and executing the long-term logistics strategy across Ivory Coast and neighbouring landlocked countries. We are looking for a results-oriented go-getter and a commercially sharp leader with strong execution capabilities, strategic vision, and the ability to inspire teams and influence stakeholders. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Define and execute the integrated logistics growth strategy for Côte d’Ivoire and selected hinterland markets.
  • Drive the start-up phase of the PIL Logistics business in Cote d’Ivoire, balancing hunting and prospection with setting out the structure for the company to build up from its base.
  • Drive organic business development, focusing on sustainable and profitable revenue growth.
  • Expand and diversify logistics offerings including freight forwarding, customs clearance, container freight station (CFS) activities, warehousing, contract logistics, value-added services, and 4PL solutions.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships aligned with PIL’s asset-light strategy.
  • Identify new market opportunities and verticals to strengthen PIL’s regional logistics presence.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small dynamic team, fostering accountability, ownership, and high performance.
  • Ensure operational excellence, financial discipline, and full P&L accountability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, authorities, service providers, and regional leadership.
  • Translate strategic vision into clear execution roadmaps with measurable KPIs.

 

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in shipping and logistics, preferably within a shipping line, freight forwarding, contract logistics, or integrated supply chain environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, solution-driven approach.
  • In-depth understanding of the logistics sector in Côte d’Ivoire and the broader regional ecosystem.
  • Experience in West Africa or emerging markets is highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record in business development with the ability to expand market presence and introduce new service offerings.
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end logistics ecosystems, including landside operations and cross-border supply chains.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance long-term growth ambition with operational discipline.
  • Strong leadership presence with proven ability in people development, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influence.
  • Sound financial acumen and experience managing P&L responsibility.
