We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager (Guatemala) to join our dynamic team at PIL. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing shipping operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective management of vessel and cargo operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of day-to-day vessel and cargo operations in Guatemala, ensuring alignment with PIL’s operational standards.
  • Monitor and coordinate vessel arrival schedules, berthing, cargo loading/unloading, and turnaround times.
  • Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, shipping agents, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Optimize cost efficiencies by reviewing operational expenses, including port costs, stevedoring, and logistics services.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices during port operations.
  • Manage documentation processes such as Approval to Carry (ATC) for containers, port documentationequipment tracking, and vessel manifest extraction.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, provide timely solutions, and escalate critical matters as necessary.
  • Analyze operational performance and prepare reports, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Lead and mentor a team of operational staff to achieve efficiency and operational excellence.

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in shipping operations, port management, or logistics within a container shipping environment.
  • Strong understanding of vessel operations, port systems, and cargo handling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in operational documentation and shipping systems.
