We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced National Operations Manager to join our dynamic team at PIL Indonesia. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing shipping operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective management of vessel and cargo operations in the country.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of day-to-day vessel and cargo operations, in accordance with local rules / regulations, safety/security procedures and PIL’s operational standards.
  • Monitor and coordinate vessel arrival schedules, berthing, cargo loading/unloading, and turnaround times.
  • Ensure vessels are loaded and unloaded in a timely fashion.
  • Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, husbanding agents, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Checking information at terminal and HL systems against actual documentation and for indication of hazardous cargo
  • Optimize cost efficiencies by reviewing operational expenses, including port costs, stevedoring, and logistics services.
  • Manage documentation processes such as Approval to Carry (ATC) for containers, port documentation, equipment tracking, and vessel manifest extraction.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, provide timely solutions, and escalate critical matters as necessary.
  • Apply the COD matter between Customer Service and PIL HQ Singapore LPO.
  • Monitor Terminal performance and suggest all reasonable process into Operation Department.
  • Analyze operational performance and prepare reports, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Lead and supervise PIL Indonesia procurements to minimize all operational costs.
  • Provide leadership to Empty equipment teams in all ports to ensure the management of Line’s Empty in the best possible manner.
  • Lead and mentor a team of operational staff to achieve efficiency and operational excellence across all ports of Indonesia where PIL has a presence.
  • This position is located in the Jakarta main office of PIL Indonesia and requires traveling to other ports based on requirements.

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Degree in Business Admin, Marketing or Logistics or equivalent level
  • 8+ years’ experience in logistics field with demonstrable commercial successes
  • Experience operating in challenging environment
  • Functional know-how in air/ocean/land transport as well as contract logistics
  • Knowledge about market and competitors, about trends and challenges in the industry
  • Good strategic planning skills, ability to translate strategy into operational roadmaps
  • Extensive skills to coordinate resources, building and using networks
  • High result orientations and customer focus
