This role is responsible for the disciplined performance monitoring and management of the Group’s strategic initiatives and investments, translating business performance into clear financial insights that support senior decision‑making. A core accountability is the ability to design and implement a coherent, systems‑driven monitoring framework that provides structured, repeatable visibility over key initiatives and investments — integrating financial, operational, and strategic indicators while upholding strong governance, early risk identification, and disciplined performance tracking.

 

This role sits within the Corporate Finance department, offering strong visibility and development opportunities within the broader container shipping business. Key Responsibilities

 

Investment Assessment & Financial Analysis: 

  • Conduct financial modelling, valuation analyses, scenario simulations, and investment return assessments for new initiatives, capital projects, acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures.
  • Review and validate business projections, underlying assumptions, and financial data received from business units to ensure rigor and reliability.
  • Perform benchmarking, peer comparison, and market research to support valuation assumptions.

 

Monitoring of Strategic Initiatives & Existing Investments: 

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, tracking tools, or monitoring frameworks to provide clear visibility of investment status, financial performance, key metrics, and red flags for senior management.
  • Track and evaluate the ongoing performance of investments and initiatives against approved business cases, budgets, and key milestones.
  • Identify performance gaps, emerging risks, and opportunities to enhance value creation.
  • Support the preparation of periodic investment performance updates, including summarizing insights and variances for management and Board reporting.

 

Strategic Planning & Business Partnering: 

  • Translate strategic initiatives into financial implications and provide insights that shape decision‑making.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance teams, Business Units, and Management to gather inputs and validate assumptions.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions on investment proposals or corporate strategic reviews.

 

Reporting, Governance & Board/Management Materials: 

  • Prepare memos, board papers, presentations, and summary reports to support decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate approval processes, governance frameworks, and documentation standards.
  • Track progress and documentation related to approvals, transaction milestones, or project implementation.

 

M&A and Transaction Support: 

  • Assist in end-to-end M&A processes including deal evaluation, due diligence coordination, financial analysis, documentation review, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Engage and collaborate with external consultants, valuers, and legal advisors as required.
  • Review term sheets, agreements, and transaction documents, ensuring alignment with financial and commercial expectations

 

Stakeholder & External Party Management:

  • Manage communication and expectations across Management, Business Unit heads and Finance teams.
  • Facilitate alignment across divisions to ensure smooth execution of investment processes and project deliverables.

 

Project Management & Ad-hoc Initiatives: 

  • Lead or support finance-related projects and initiatives as required.
  • Handle ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests from senior management.

 

 

MUST HAVE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior finance role.
  • Prior experience in mergers & acquisition and/ or investment monitoring is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a multinational or matrix organization is advantageous

 

Hard Skills:

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and corporate governance standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in writing board papers and preparing board slides.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Ability to meet business/commercial needs while ensuring internal governance/controls requirements are in check.
