The Manager for Agency Network Management will be responsible for the selection and management of shipping agencies in PIL's global agency network (both subsidaries and third-party agents). This person will assist in shipping related investment projects in the assigned region(s) and to lead in assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of several countries in agency corporate governance, agency performance management and agency commercial-related activities.
- Corporate governance includes board and management structure, ownership structure and exercise of control rights, CAPEX & OPEX management, agency-principal commission negotiations and agreements
- Collaborate closely with the Agency Finance Controller on Financial matters of the Entities within your portfolio, to review the financial performance, including operating expenses, cash matters, dividend declaration, cost plus implementation, versus approved budgets.
- Plan and finalize annual budgets with active participation from agencies and HQ stakeholders. Monitor budget execution.
- Assist in project management of assigned M&A project.
- Initiate collaboration with various Business Units/stakeholders in Principal office to assess, review and implement actions to elevate the performance of your portfolio of countries.
- Lead the investigation and integrate stakeholders’ feedback and perspective into problem solving processes and establish/ refine preventive measures and procedures.
- Assist in carrying out transformation initiatives/projects aligned with HQ directives, contribute to strategic planning discussion and projects to drive continuous efficiency improvements of the agencies.
- To anchor relationships and communications with local Partners on corporate matters and ensuring good corporate governance of the Entities within your portfolio, in close coordination with the Corporate Entity Management team.
- Management of Detention/Demurrage post waivers, Third Party Billing of Container Repair commercial waivers.
- Possible travel to areas of representation.
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Corporate Law, Maritime Studies or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., ACCA) be advantageous
- Minimum 3 - 5 years in Corporate Management
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the container shipping industry is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience
