Are you a driven and experienced Finance professional ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Junior Regional Finance Controller to support our vibrant team at the West and South Africa Regional Office (WARO) in Accra, Ghana.
In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the Regional Finance Manager to manage and monitor the financial, fiscal, and administration activities across seven countries (Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon, and South Africa), and align regional initiatives with global standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for a high-energy and ambitious junior finance professional to grow within a dynamic, international organization and make a meaningful impact across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
After a 6-month discovery and training period, the WARO Junior Regional Finance Controller will assist the Regional Finance Function in:
- Reviewing subsidiaries reporting and performing financial review
- Assuring the application of Group financial rules and procedures (customer collection, treasury, working capital, financing)
- Reviewing “Account Receivable” balance and collection actions,
- Providing methodology and technical support to the network
- Reviewing and writing SOPs, specifically for Demurrage and Detention Processes, and clients deposit management,
- Being a bridge, and promoting a 2-way partnership between finance and documentation
- Supervising issuance of statutory accounts and related legal audit
- Producing financial review synthesis to Management
- Optimizing risk mitigation
- Contributing to the simplification and optimization of financial processes
- Ensure effective use of tools
- Implementing an Internal Control Review in WARO entities
- Reviewing and (if necessary) re-forming the financial set up of the WARO office itself.
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in economics and finance,
- Preferably 2 to 5 years of experience in an international company, and within a finance department
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven experience in project management, specifically for new systems and software implementation
- A proactive approach in their work, and naturally curious. This role requires the candidate to be hungry, and eager to develop their skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
WE VALUE:
- Experience working in a global or regional Finance role, preferably in the shipping, logistics, or transportation industry.
- Strong and demonstrable Project Management Skills, involving multiple countries and several internal functions.
- Flexible and solutions-oriented, able to navigate complex topics in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Someone who can act as a bridge between two parties that may not always hold a common interest
- French would be a definitive advantage, but is not a prerequisite.
- A confident and clear communicator
