We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to take on the role of Head of Entity, PIL Logistics in Uganda. The successful candidate will lead our logistics operations, drive business growth and expanding our presence in the region. This role is critical for establishing and managing logistics services in Zambia with a focus on operational excellence and strategic business development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Development:

  • Identify high-value opportunities in the logistics sector and build compelling business cases that drive growth and profitability.
  • Evaluate market trends critically to position PIL as a leader in door-to-door logistics solutions.

Operational Setup and Optimization:

  • Spearhead the setup of new logistics operations within the local market, including sourcing of reliable warehousing solutions, trucking services, and qualified drivers through a well-established network of industry contacts.

Intermodal and Cross-Border Expertise:

  • Design and oversee comprehensive intermodal logistics solutions for both import and export operations, ensuring seamless integration across multiple transportation modes to maximize efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop and manage innovative intermodal logistics solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Leverage extensive knowledge of East Africa’s cross-border and regulatory landscape to ensure smooth, compliant operations.

Cross-Border Logistics Expertise

  • Apply deep knowledge of cross-border regulations and compliance requirements to facilitate smooth, uninterrupted operations across international boundaries.

Shipping & Port Operations

  • Utilize extensive expertise in shipping and port logistics to streamline operations, reduce turnaround times, and enhance overall service delivery.

Key Account Intermodal Services

  • Develop and manage tailored intermodal service offerings for key clients, ensuring consistent service excellence and end-to-end customer satisfaction.

Sales Funnel Development

  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, effectively converting high-potential leads into long-term, loyal customers.

Profit Optimization

  • Maximize profitability by modeling comprehensive end-to-end cost structures and identifying opportunities to improve margins.

Customer-Centric Service Differentiation

  • Deliver differentiated service levels that foster strong customer loyalty, retention, and long-term partnerships.

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Industry Experience: Over 8 years of hands-on experience in the logistics sector, with a strong track record of driving operational and commercial success.
  • Leadership & Management: Demonstrated ability to lead companies or head sales and operations departments within the logistics industry, delivering strategic growth and operational excellence.
  • Regional Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the East African logistics landscape, including market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and key industry players.
  • Executive Competencies: Strong leadership and decisive problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and drive impactful outcomes.
  • People & Culture: High emotional intelligence and exceptional people management capabilities, fostering collaborative, high-performing teams.
