We are looking for an experienced Head of Agency (Uruguay) to take ownership of our operations in Uruguay. This role requires a dynamic leader to oversee the commercial, operational, and financial performance of the business, ensuring profitability, compliance, and sustainable growth. As the Head of Agency, you will lead the local team while driving global connectivity and business strategy in line with PIL’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, develop, and grow PIL’s business in Uruguay by formulating and executing business strategies aligned with corporate goals.
- Drive profitability through effective management of commercial, operational, and financial activities.
- Take full ownership of the approved budget and assume profit & loss (P&L) responsibility.
- Align with regional and global business strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
Commercial & Operational Management
- Deliver on the agency scorecard against agreed KPIs, business plans, and budgets.
- Oversee operational efficiency, ensuring that service delivery meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Collaborate with local, regional, and global stakeholders to optimize business processes and enhance performance.
- Manage relationships with port authorities, terminals, and partners to ensure smooth operations.
Financial Management
- Ensure robust financial planning, manage working capital, and maintain local cash flow for financial stability.
- Oversee local compliance with tax, regulatory, and labor laws, aligning operations with PIL Group’s policies.
- Monitor financial exposure and optimize cash flow for the local business unit.
Team Development & Leadership
- Build and manage a high-performing team, fostering continuous learning and growth.
- Coach and mentor team members to develop future leaders and ensure a sustainable talent pipeline.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work culture that drives business success and employee engagement.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure all operations adhere to PIL’s risk management and governance frameworks.
- Proactively address market challenges, business risks, and operational issues with strategic solutions.
MUST HAVE:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Logistics, Shipping, or related fields.
- At least 10 years of leadership experience in the shipping, logistics, or container industry with a strong P&L focus.
- Proven experience managing commercial operations and driving financial performance.
- Technical & Professional Skills:
- Strong understanding of port, terminal, and equipment management.
- Exceptional leadership skills with hands-on management experience.
- Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Latin American markets and regulations is highly preferred.
