We are looking for a leader who is ready to take ownership of their role and contribute to PIL's growth in Ecuador. You will play a pivotal part in driving connectivity across the globe, ensuring that our operations meet the highest standards of performance, compliance, and financial health.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead, develop, and grow PIL's business in Ecuador by formulating and executing business strategies in line with corporate goals.
  • Drive profitability through effective management of commercial, operational, and financial activities.
  • Take full ownership of the approved budget, manage financial exposure, and assume P&L responsibility.

Commercial & Operational Management:

  • Deliver on the agency scorecard against agreed KPIs, business plans, and budgets.
  • Oversee operational efficiency, ensuring that service delivery meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Collaborate with local and regional stakeholders to optimize business processes and enhance organizational efficiency.

Financial Management:

  • Ensure robust financial planning, manage working capital, and oversee local cash flow to maintain the company’s financial stability.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax, regulatory, and labor laws, aligning operations with PIL Group's policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and optimize the company's financial exposure and cash flow.

Team Development & Leadership:

  • Develop and manage a high-performing team, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.
  • Coach and mentor team members to foster leadership roles and ensure a sustainable talent pipeline.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive culture that drives business success and employee engagement.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all operations adhere to the company’s risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Proactively address challenges such as adverse market conditions or profit declines with strategic solutions.

 

MUST HAVE:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Logistics, Shipping, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of commercial and leadership experience in the container/liner shipping or logistics industry, with strong P&L exposure.
  • Proven track record of managing commercial operations and driving financial performance.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on management style.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong understanding of port, terminal, and equipment management operations.

Other Requirements:

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple business objectives and balance priorities.
  • Experience in emerging markets, particularly in Latin America, is highly preferred.
