We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Agency (Argentina) to spearhead operations in Argentina. This role requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in the shipping and logistics industry, capable of driving operational excellence, commercial growth, and financial stability. The Head of Agency will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing key stakeholders, and aligning local business strategies with PIL’s global objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, develop, and grow PIL’s business operations in Argentina by formulating and executing business strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Drive profitability and sustainable growth through effective management of commercial, operational, and financial activities.
  • Assume full P&L ownership, ensuring alignment with budget targets and corporate performance goals.
  • Align local strategies with regional and global business plans to achieve long-term objectives.

Commercial & Operational Management

  • Deliver on agreed KPIs, business plans, and budgets, ensuring the agency’s operations meet performance standards.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and optimize business processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with port authorities, customers, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds client expectations, driving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Financial Management

  • Manage working capital, oversee local cash flow, and maintain the financial health of the business unit.
  • Monitor financial performance and control expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, tax requirements, and labor laws, aligning with PIL Group’s policies and procedures.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Develop and manage a high-performing team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth.
  • Mentor and coach team members to cultivate future leaders and maintain a sustainable talent pipeline.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive culture that supports business success and enhances employee engagement.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure all operations adhere to PIL’s risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Proactively address challenges and market risks with strategic, data-driven solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with local and international shipping regulations to mitigate risks.

 

MUST HAVE:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Logistics, Shipping, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in the shipping, logistics, or container industry, with demonstrated P&L responsibility.
  • Proven ability to manage commercial operations and achieve financial targets.

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • Strong understanding of port, terminal, and equipment management.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a hands-on management style.
  • Strong commercial acumen, problem-solving skills, and financial planning expertise.
  • Familiarity with the Latin American market, including local regulatory and labor frameworks, is highly preferred.
