We are seeking a passionate and experienced HR Manager to join our dynamic team in the West and South Africa Region (WARO). This role which will be based in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, will focus on our Francophone markets (Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Togo, and Benin). The successful candidate will act as a key strategic partner to both the Regional HR Manager and our agencies in these locations.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

As the HR Manager - Francophone Countries, you will lead the implementation of HR strategies and initiatives that align with our broader business goals and our regional people priorities for the countries under your scope. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a high-performance culture, driving employee engagement, and supporting talent development across the francophone countries.       

 

 

Strategic Partnership

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop HR strategies that support business objectives.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational design and talent initiatives across the region
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Partner the business leaders towards a high-performing and engaged employee company culture.
  • Drive / Manage HR aspects of organizational change initiatives within the region

 

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local labour laws and company policies and stay updated on regulatory changes impacting HR practices.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and the promotion of best practices.
  • Draft and manage employment contracts to ensure consistency and legal soundness
  • Ensure the data quality of HR records, manage employee files, and update internal databases 
  • Support positive workplace relationships by providing assistance to employee queries and fostering an inclusive environment 

 

Talent Management & Development

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent. 
  • Coordinate recruitment activities for the countries under your scope and work closely with the Regional HR Manager to meet staffing needs.
  • Oversee leadership development through coaching and targeted training.
  • Drive the talent agenda through talent reviews, succession planning etc.
  • Identify skills gaps & training needs in order to develop programs to enhance employee performance and career growth.

 

Employee Engagement & Well Being

  • Oversee employee engagement and well-being initiatives aligned with the WARO HR strategy and overall organizational objectives.
  • Foster open communication between employees and management to promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Facilitate and support leaders and teams in their engagement journey by fostering open feedback and action planning post the employee engagement survey.

 

Performance Management

  • Manage the performance management framework, ensuring appraisals are conducted regularly, are meaningful, and contribute to employee growth and organizational effectiveness.
  •  Provide guidance on feedback mechanisms and ensure that performance improvement plans are aligned with regional objectives.

 

Policy Development

  • Implement new and review existing HR policies to ensure they align with company goals and legal requirements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement identifying opportunities for optimization and implementing best practices.
  • Make informed and timely decisions regarding HR matters in response to changes in business needs and / or statutory labour laws as well changing employee trends within each country in scope.

 

HR Analytics

  • Prepare HR reports and assist with data collection for regional HR metrics and analytics.
  • Use data to inform HR decisions and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.

 

 

MUST HAVE:

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a similar role in an international organization, preferably within a multi-country setting.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM, SPHR, etc) is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with HR practices and labour regulations in Sub-Saharan Africa 
  • Proven ability to lead HR strategies aligned with long-term business goals
  • Demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition, talent management, performance management, and HR operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working in unionized environment.
  • Bilingual French & English
