We are seeking a passionate and experienced HR Manager to join our dynamic team in South Africa. The successful candidate will act as a key strategic partner to both the Country MD and Regional HR Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. HR Business Partnership & Organisational Leadership

  • Partner with leadership to align workforce and people strategies with business priorities.
  • Support organisational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent decisions.
  • Provide insights on employee engagement, organisational effectiveness, and emerging people risks.


2. Transformation and Change Management

  • Lead and support the people aspects of organisational transformation and change initiatives.
  • Develop and implement change management and communication plans.
  • Monitor adoption of new structures, processes, and ways of working.


3. Talent, Recruitment, Training & Capability

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development activities.
  • Drive learning and capability-building initiatives aligned to business requirements.
  • Ensure completion and effectiveness of mandatory and developmental training programmes.


4. Performance, Engagement & Employee Relations

  • Manage performance management processes and support employee development.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance processes.


5. Remuneration, B-BBEE, Governance & Compliance

  • Support remuneration reviews, retention initiatives, and market benchmarking.
  • Lead B-BBEE and Employment Equity reporting and compliance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation, HR policies, and statutory requirements.


6. HR Operations, Payroll & Systems

  • Oversee payroll-related HR processes and maintain accurate employee records
  • Ensure HR systems, job descriptions, and organisational structures remain current and accurate
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency across HR processes and systems.

 

MUST HAVE – Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role in an international organisation, preferably in the shipping, maritime, or logistics industry.
  • Proven experience in managing B-BBEE compliance, including strategy, reporting, and audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • Proven background managing payroll systems (e.g., Sage VIP) and HR service delivery in a logistics or shipping context
  • Experience in talent acquisition, talent management, performance management, and HR operations.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
