Are you a driven and experienced HR professional ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Deputy Regional HR Manager to support our vibrant team at the West and South Africa Regional Office (WARO) in Accra, Ghana. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the Regional HR Manager to ensure seamless HR operations across seven countries (Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon, and South Africa) aligning regional initiatives with global people priorities. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow within a dynamic, international organization and make a meaningful impact across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnership
- Partner with the business to lead, drive, and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy and the regional people plan
- Support workforce planning, organizational design and talent initiatives across the region.
- Drive / Manage HR aspects of organizational change initiatives within the region
- Support leaders in managing change effectively.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Address employee concerns and mediate conflicts in a fair and timely manner to maintain a positive work environment
- Ensure that internal company policies adhere to all relevant employment laws and regulations
Talent Management & Development
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Oversee leadership development through coaching and targeted training
- Drive the talent agenda through talent reviews, succession planning etc
Employee Engagement & Well Being
- Develop and support employee engagement and well-being initiatives that are aligned with the Regional HR strategy and overall organizational objectives.
- Foster open communication between employees and management to promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment
Performance Management
- Manage the performance management framework, ensuring appraisals are conducted regularly, are meaningful, and contribute to employee growth and organizational effectiveness.
- Provide guidance on feedback mechanisms and performance improvement plans aligned with regional objectives.
Policy Development
- Implement new and review existing HR policies to ensure they align with company goals and legal requirements.
Training and Development
- Identify skills gaps & training needs in order to develop programs to enhance employee performance and career growth.
HR Analytics
- Use data to inform HR decisions and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
MUST HAVE:
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a similar role in an international organization, preferably within a regional or multi-country setting.
- Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM, SPHR, etc) is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with HR practices and labour regulations in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition, talent management, performance management, and HR operations.
- Proven ability to lead HR teams and influence senior leadership
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience working in unionized environments

- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing HR teams across different countries, ensuring consistency in HR practices.
- Someone who can act as a bridge between two parties that may not always hold a common interest
- A proactive, problem-solving approach to HR challenges, with the ability to influence business leaders
- Able work at both a strategical & an operational level
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A confident and clear communicator
- French language would be a plus
