Pacific International Lines (PIL) is looking for a proactive and organized Haulage Coordinator to manage day-to-day trucking activities for import and export containers across Côte d’Ivoire and hinterland locations. This role ensures smooth communication between truckers, terminals, customers, and internal teams — enabling timely pickups, deliveries, and empty returns.
Key Responsibilities:
The Haulage Coordinator oversees inland trucking operations with PIL’s network of contracted 3P transporters. They plan container movements, assign trucking, track each trip, resolve exceptions, and ensure that deliveries are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with PIL standards. The ideal candidate is responsive, solution-oriented, and capable of coordinating multiple moving parts under pressure.
Trip Planning & Dispatching
- Assign trucks for import pickups, export drop-offs, and empty returns.
- Share booking details, container references, and timelines with transporters.
- Coordinate with the terminal for gate availability, restrictions, and rush requests.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispatch based on vessel cut-offs and customer requirements.
Real-Time Tracking & Monitoring
- Track each truck movement from dispatch to arrival.
- Follow up on delays, breakdowns, traffic issues, and operational disruptions.
- Maintain constant communication with transporters to ensure schedule adherence.
- Update internal teams and customers on status or expected delivery times.
Terminal & Yard Coordination
- Follow up with the terminal for container readiness, holds, scanning, reefer checks, or late availability.
- Assist truckers facing issues at the gate (wrong status, unavailability, mismatches).
- Monitor empty returns and coordinate with depots for acceptance.
Customer Communication
- Provide timely updates to customers on pickup and delivery progress.
- Escalate potential delays and propose solutions.
- Ensure communication is clear, professional, and customer focused.
Issue Resolution & Exceptions Handling
- Resolve cases of container not found, unplanned holds, late-gate requests, or wrong stack positions.
- Coordinate with Operations, Terminal Operator, and Documentation teams for corrective actions.
- Support urgent or time-sensitive shipments.
Performance & Reporting
- Maintain daily logs of trips, delays, completed moves, and exceptions.
- Track transporter performance (POD timeliness, availability, reliability).
- Provide weekly/monthly inland performance reports to the Operations Manager.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure transporters follow PIL’s safety rules, speed limits, and legal requirements.
- Report unsafe behaviour, incidents, or damage.

MUST HAVE:
- Diploma/degree in Logistics, Transport, Supply Chain, or Business.
- 1–3 years of experience in inland transportation, trucking coordination, logistics, or shipping.
- Strong understanding of inland haulage, terminals, and container flows.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Excel, tracking tools, and operational systems.
- Fluent in French, with workable English.
- Organized, proactive, and customer-service minded.
