We are seeking a detail-oriented and process driven Accountant to join our dynamic team at PIL in Mexico City. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with local statutory requirements, and alignment with PIL’s global accounting policies. This position supports the day-to-day financial operations and contributes to the month-end closing process, audits, and regional reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage general accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial records maintenance.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing in line with corporate deadlines.
- Prepare and review balance sheet and P&L reports, ensuring proper documentation and variance analysis.
- Maintain compliance with local tax and accounting regulations, coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors as required.
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and fixed assets on a regular basis.
- Assist in budget preparation and expense tracking, providing insights to management on financial performance.
- Collaborate with regional and global finance teams to ensure consistency in reporting and process alignment.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and system enhancements to increase efficiency and control.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent certification is an advantage).
- 5-10 years of accounting experience, ideally in a multinational or logistics/shipping environment.
- Strong understanding of local accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/BR GAAP) and tax regulations.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
- English proficiency required (written and spoken); Portuguese and/or Spanish is a plus.

• Familiarity with digital tools such as sales management platforms, online collaboration tools, and productivity software.
Knowledge of the Maritime and Logistics Sector
• Familiarity with maritime transportation services, cargo loading and unloading operations, and global logistics processes.
• Understanding of international trade and maritime transport terms and regulations.
