We are looking for a skilled Deputy HR Manager to support our HR operations at PIL Nigeria. In this key role, you will assist with recruitment and onboarding activities, help ensure compliance with Nigerian labour regulations, contribute to managing employee relations, and participate in organisational development programmes. You will play a vital part in implementing effective HR strategies that address both local labour requirements and the wider goals of our organisation, while building constructive relationships with union representatives. The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of progressive HR experience within Nigeria, including demonstrated expertise in union engagement and HR policy implementation.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • HR Operations and Administration: 
    • Support day‑to‑day HR operations by ensuring that service delivery across all HR functions is both efficient and timely.
    • This involves overseeing administrative processes, responding to employee queries, and managing routine HR tasks to maintain smooth workflow.
    • By facilitating prompt and reliable HR services, help contribute to an organised and responsive HR environment that meets the needs of employees and supports organisational objectives in Nigeria.

 

  • Employee Engagement & Well-Being: 
    • Lead, Support employee engagement and well-being initiatives in Nigeria, working closely with Regional HR to promote a collaborative and inclusive workplace. 
    • Assist in facilitating communication between employees and management, helping drive transparency and trust. Provide guidance on post-engagement survey feedback and action planning for leaders and teams.

 

  • Performance Management:
    • Assist in managing the performance management process, ensuring employee appraisals are conducted regularly and meaningfully, contributing to development and business outcomes. Support feedback mechanisms and help ensure performance improvement plans meet company standards

 

  • Policy Development:: 
    • Help implement and review HR policies to ensure alignment with company goals and compliance with Nigeria’s legal requirements, including complex labour laws. Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and applying best practices suited to the Nigerian environment.

 

  • Union Relations: 
    • Help implement and review HR policies to ensure alignment with company goals and compliance with Nigeria’s legal requirements, including complex labour laws. Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and applying best practices suited to the Nigerian environment.

 

  • HR Analytics: 
    • Help implement and review HR policies to ensure alignment with company goals and compliance with Nigeria’s legal requirements, including complex labour laws. Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and applying best practices suited to the Nigerian environment.

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role within an international organisation in Nigeria.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM, SPHR) is a strong advantage.
  • In-depth familiarity with HR practices and labour regulations in Nigeria.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead HR strategies that align with local needs and long-term business objectives.
  • Proven success managing union relationships and navigating complex labour issues specific to Nigeria.
