Pacific International Lines (PIL) is seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Regional Pricing Lead to join our West Africa Regional Office (WARO). This role will lead regional pricing discipline, market analysis, competitor benchmarking and commercial decision support across West and South Africa. As the key regional coordination point between Commercial strategy, country Sales teams, Trade, Cargo Flow and Customer Service, you will translate market intelligence into practical pricing actions, improve cargo conversion and support profitable growth.

 

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

 

 

Pricing Strategy & Rate Discipline:

  • Lead regional pricing discipline across West and South Africa, covering spot, seasonal, contract and tender pricing.
  • Ensure pricing decisions are aligned with Trade guidance, commercial priorities and contribution objectives.
  • Recommend rate adjustments and promote consistent pricing execution across agencies.

 

Commercial Strategy Support:

  • Provide pricing input for growth initiatives, focus markets, commodity opportunities and customer segmentation.
  • Support budget discussions, regional commercial priorities and management or HQ preparations requiring pricing analysis.
    • Translate market signals and customer feedback into practical pricing recommendations.

 

Market Intelligence & Benchmarking:

  • Monitor market trends, competitor rate movements, customer feedback and commodity flows.
  • Prepare a monthly view of PIL pricing position versus the market.
  • Identify emerging pricing risks and opportunities and recommend timely actions.

 

Performance & Conversion Analysis:

  • Analyse lost-cargo root causes, including rate level, equipment, congestion, schedule, allocation and service gaps.
  • Track conversion from quoted cargo to booked cargo and loaded cargo.
  • Recommend actions to improve win ratio and reduce revenue leakage.

 

Pricing Process & Tools Discipline:

  • Ensure that the rates update are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and improve pricing templates, rate trackers and reporting tools.
  • Promote clear version control, data quality and consistent pricing processes across the region

 

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Coordinate pricing decisions with Sales, Trade, Cargo Flow, Customer Service and local agencies.
  • Support country teams with pricing clarification, analysis and data requests.
  • Escalate material pricing conflicts, contribution risks or commercial gaps to Regional Commercial Leadership or Trade HQ.

 

 

MUST HAVE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in container shipping, trade management, network planning, cargo flow, logistics, or operations.
  • Strong understanding of vessel capacity management, equipment planning, and shipping network operations.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders in a regional or international environment.
