PIL Ghana is looking for an experienced Operations & Logistics Manager to lead end-to-end operations in Ghana. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving reliable vessel operations, effective equipment management, cost-efficient logistics solutions and strong vendor performance, while ensuring compliance with PIL standards and delivering high-quality service to customers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead vessel and marine operations:
- Drive schedule reliability, port productivity and smooth berthing coordination in Tema by working closely with vessels, terminals, port authorities, agents and partners.
- Monitor vessel performance, support operational planning, resolve day-to-day disruptions and help minimize delays, waiting time and avoidable operational costs.
Strengthen equipment management:
- Ensure full visibility of container movements across import, export and depot activities.
- Optimize empty stock positioning, monitor container dwell and turnaround times, support timely equipment repositioning and drive achievement of Principal-set KPIs for equipment control, utilization and availability.
Optimize logistics and intermodal execution:
- Build effective partnerships with ICDs, CFSs, haulers, depots and other service providers to improve cost efficiency, operational flow and service reliability.
- You will oversee inland moves, depot coordination, trucking arrangements and intermodal solutions, ensuring customers receive dependable, timely and cost-effective logistics support.
Drive vendor and contract performance:
- Monitor service provider performance against agreed standards, contract terms and cost expectations.
- Support procurement of IHI rates, maintain accurate LMS updates, review vendor performance trends, address service gaps and identify opportunities to reduce cost while maintaining operational quality.
Deliver strong controls and reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely operational reporting, invoice processing, cost validation, claims monitoring and KPI tracking.
- Provide clear visibility on operational performance, highlight risks and exceptions early, and support data-driven decision-making across marine, logistics and equipment activities.
Lead and develop teams:
- Build a high-performing and accountable operations and logistics team by setting clear expectations, coaching team members and strengthening operational discipline.
- Promote collaboration, problem-solving and continuous improvement while ensuring the team has the capability to support PIL Ghana’s business priorities.
MUST HAVE:
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies or a related field.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in shipping, logistics or operations management, ideally within containerized trade.
- Strong background in vessel operations, equipment control, intermodal logistics and vendor performance management.
- Proven ability to drive cost optimization, process improvement and KPI delivery in a fast-paced operational environment.
WE VALUE:
- Confident stakeholder manager with strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership capability, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office and relevant operational systems, including terminal operating systems or ERP platforms.
- Fluency in English is required with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively
